Sunday Mornings

Sunday School Superintendent:  Dolores Winter
Sunday School Coordinator:       Kim Carroll
Childcare Coordinator:                Kelly Tancredi

"A Place to Grow in God's Love" is intentionally taught through our relationships, the Bible Stories, creative lessons, and having tons of fun.

Children are encouraged to learn by teaching using the "Multi-Intelligences in the Classroom" techniques of reading, thinking, seeing, drawing, acting, touching, dancing, singing - connecting with the Message.

Sunday Morning Christian Education Programs are offered for every child from 25 mos. (Toddler II) through fifth grade. Liberty Corner Church urges all families to take the Two Hour Challenge; Worship as a family at one hour and Christian Education for the other. Adult Educational or ministry opportunities (see Parent's Page) are available while our children join their friends at Sunday Morning School at either 9:15 or 10:45.

Sunday School Curriculum:  Cokesbury Publishing.  Here are LCPC we are planting the seeds of faith in children's hearts and minds.  We are helping children come to know and love Jesus Christ!  Using a variety of hands-on experiences, Exploring Faith helps children learn and experience the Bible in ways they can understand.  Children will be challenged to take God's Word to heart and apply it in their daily lives.

What makes Exploring Faith right for our children?

  • Faith-building stories each week
  • Biblically based faith point introduces each week's lesson
  • Seven learning styles engage children so each is touched in a meaningful, memorable way
  • Age-appropriate stories and activities teach the Bible story in a way that each child can understand.

Take a look at the curriculum our children are learning from on Sunday Morning!! http://www.cokesbury.com/curriculum.aspx?subsection=9&sid=123

Currently we have 18 classes and serve over 325 registered children.  Most classes are sized between 10-15 children.

Special Sundays

Second Grade Communion Celebration:  All second graders are invited to participate in a Communion Celebration; a fun, instructive workshop which offers a more in-depth overview of The Lord’s Supper.  A Winter  workshop is scheduled for Sundays, typically in February or March and is offered at both the 9:15 and 10:45 regular Sunday School hours.  On the final Sunday the second graders will come into worship to join their parents and receive communion together.  Communion continues the work begun at Baptism; therefore all baptized Christians are invited to Jesus’ table.  For further information, please contact Claudia Stillwaggon at cstillwaggon@libertycorner.org.

Kick Off Sunday, our September celebration, is the first Sunday back from summer vacation. It's a time to get acquainted with our Sunday School teachers, meeting new friends and renewing old friendships.  Our theme for the 2005-2006 year was "Getting Connected" to your faith, your family and yourself.  Come and find out how you can get connected to our families by serving Christ in Children & Family Ministries.  For more details, please contact cstillwagon@libertycorner,org.

Invite A Friend To Sunday School, a day in November, is when our kids get to show off their friends to their church family. Special attention is made of each child that brings a friend, as well as the friend.

Plans are in the works for Sunday, November 19th.  Continue to check out our website for more details.

Third Grade Bible Adventure is offered during January and February. The program begins by a worship celebration where the children are presented their own Bible and continues by teaching the over view of the entire Bible.
On February 19, 2006, 35 Third Graders completed this six week adventure of understanding and navigating through the Bible; by memorizing major scriptures, learning time lines, various grouping, biographies, history and authors of all 66 books of the Bible.  Congratulations to all the kids and a huge thank you to Sue Kennedy, Sharon & Andy Mahoney, Jerrilyn & Stephen DeSee, Beth Scheiderman, Patty Knouse and Stephanie Wallace for leading them!!

TCC Sunday (The Children’s Corner) is Sunday, March 19th at 9:15 in the Sanctuary.   It’s the one Sunday out of the year where we open our doors to the families of TCC to celebrate our relationship with them, the TCC staff and Jesus.  TCC is LCPC’s non-profit daycare center and nursery school, found in January 1987 in response to community concern regarding the need for care for children of working parents.

“He’s Alive” is our special Easter morning service for our children (K through 5th grade) in Douglas Hall at 9:15 and 10:45.  Our 3rd through 5th graders will create a special worship service for the Kindergarteners through 2nd grade kids.  The Easter Morning Worship celebration is a time the children worship as kids celebrating the risen Christ in their own style.   Accompanied by adults, our children lead worship their way by greeting, sharing the message, re-acting the Easter Story, lifting up in prayer their family and friends, and of course taking time for crafts and Easter treats.   If your child is interested in becoming part of the “He’s Alive” re-enactment, please contact Claudia Stillwaggon at cstillwaggon@libertycorner.org or call ext. 112.  Children 4 yrs. old and under will report to their normal classrooms on Easter morning.

Last Sunday Before Summer, a Children's Ministry event affirming our children, the teachers, the lessons we have learned and the summer anticipation before us.

Children in Worship
Families are encouraged to worship together as part of the Two Hour Challenge. Children’s bulletins are available on the Children’s Worship Tables outside of Center Court and in the Narthex. We encourage the children to use them during the sermon only in order that they may fully participate in the other aspects of worship. The materials provided correspondence with the sermon text and theme offered by the pastor.

Children’s Mission Project

Each year the Children & Family Ministries Team selects a mission project for the new school year.  We design Mission Sundays around the current curriculum and visit each classroom teaching the concepts of mission work and stewardship.

Currently our mission project for the 2005-2006 school year is “Hearts For Honduras School”.   For more information, go to the webpage on Honduras at  http://www.lcpc.org/home/howwehelp/globalmissions/honduras/h/.  Children through Grade 2 will be asked to bring in their offerings each week to be used to buy vitamins for the Honduras students or books for their school.  Children 3rd through 5th grade will be participating in the “Support A Student” program.  Each grade will support one child for $30.00/month with their weekly offerings.

We encourage our families to help our kids make a habit of giving each week.  Possible extra chores can be done at home for pay that can go toward their offerings

God has given us so much…let’s share with those who are in need!!

Christian Parenting
Sunday Morning discussion groups focus on various aspects of Christian Parenting as well as offer support and provide resources.  Currently, we are discussing the book, "Becoming the Parent God Wants You To Be".  More information at: http://www.lcpc.org/kids/parents/.
