Special Needs Ministry
A NEW Special Needs Ministry has just begun at LCPC to address children with special needs such as physical disabilities, mental, social and emotional impairments including ADD, ADHD, Autism, CP and other learning differences. Through understanding the needs of many of our children this new ministry will focus on the various ways we can teach our children about the gospel.
Initially, the Special Needs Ministry will be offered during one of the Sunday morning worship hours.
Sue Carpenter and Cheryl Brown coordinators
Every week there is an entire ministry of adults and teens serving our special needs children while their parents are worshipping. We are expanding our ministry to serve children in other areas and need your help. If you are interested in learning more about serving alongside these kids, please contact Cheryl Brown.

The Special Needs Ministry grew out of a concern for a number of children in our Sunday School classes who were having difficulty coping with the classroom environment. A group of church members decided that these children and their families deserve the opportunity to become involved in the church through worship and Sunday school. Initially this program will provide for the children already in our congregation but in the future may provide an opportunity for outreach towards families with disabilities. This is an opportunity for our church to provide support, care and the Word of God to these families or individuals.

Mission Statement
To provide an opportunity for children with Special Needs to be involved in our Sunday School program and also the opportunity for their families to be involved in worship and church activities.

Shadowing Program
The Special Needs Program aims to provide a "Shadow" or "Buddy helper" for each of the children in the program. The shadow will be matched with a child and regularly work/play/pray alongside that child in the Sunday School Program. They will be given information on the child's specific needs which will help them and the Teacher adapt the activities appropriately. This will be an opportunity for adults and teenagers to be in God's Service through learning about disability, serving others in need and forming a relationship with their child. Some general training will be given and all relevant information necessary for the care of these children will be collected and available to their shadows.
