Kids' Outreach

Mission and Outreach for kids is taught and caught at LCPC. Lisa Williams, our classroom facilitator, visits each classroom during the year. Ms. Williams brings with her lessons about the world we live in and what the children can do and are doing to change the lives of others.

Our main focus mission projects in previous years have included Habitat Helpers, the children's program of Habitat for Humanity, and "Change 4 Children", a partnership project of the Outreach Foundation, Alliance for Children Everywhere.

The children's mission project for 2005-2006 is the "Hearts for Honduras School", in La Entrada, Honduras.  Through the Hearts for Honduras School, our church has been at work since 2000 to improve the lives of children.  LCPC is committed to offering the poorest children in the community an opportunity to reach their full potential by providing education, nutrition, medical/dental care, and most importantly, introducing them to Jesus Christ.

Through the children's offerings on Sunday Mornings, our 3 year olds through 2nd graders have donated vitamins and books for the children attending the school.  Each of our 3rd through 5th grade classes are sponsoring one child.

The Children’s Mission Yearbook for Prayer & Study first rolled off the presses in 2003 and became so popular it’s in its third year of publication.  The 2006 Children’s Mission Yearbook is designed as a personal devotional guide for third through sixth graders.  It includes Scripture and prayers, games and puzzles, recipes, a Word of the Week, and many new activity ideas.  Each weekly two-page spread contains domestic and international mission stores.  The 2006 theme,  From age to Age”, invites young readers to explore how we can as Christ’s disciples be enveloped in God’s unfolding narrative from age to age.

Throughout the year special Mission Projects are offered.  As part of our Christmas Eve Children and Family Worship Services, the children are encouraging to bring baby gifts up to the manger. These gifts are donated to a local mission project, Paige Whitney Babies Center of Basking Ridge, NJ.

Paige Whitney Babies Center - Basking Ridge, NJ

The Paige Whitney Babies Center is located in a small house behind the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. Deborah and Harold Imperatore established it in 1992 as a memorial to their daughter who died, at age 2 months, of S.I.D.S. The center provides basic necessities, free of charge, for babies up to 2 1/2 years of age. It has been distributing products to 400-450 babies every two weeks since its inception and has served approximately 4,000 babies to date.

Our December Advent Extravaganza's admission fees are crafts items, small gifts items and toys for the Somerset County battered women's shelter, "Resource Center for Women and Their Families", located in Hillsborough, New Jersey.

The center provides services and facilities for the prevention of domestic violence and protection for those victimized by domestic violence. It also provides crisis-intervention support as well as training and education in the prevention and handling of domestic violence situations. Volunteers at the center are required to complete a 50-hour training course.
