Scope of Responsibility
Nominating Candidates for Church Officers and Other Positions
1. To prayerfully identify among the church membership individuals suited and willing to serve on Session, the Board of Deacons, the Board of Trustees (which three bodies shall hereafter be referred to as “the Boards”), and the Nominating Team, as well as church Treasurer, Auditors and Financial Secretaries.
2. To propose to the congregation at a Congregational Meeting and Meeting of the Corporation one nominee for each seat on the Boards and Nominating Team which will become vacant at the end of the calendar year; to propose to the congregation at the annual meetings the names of those who will serve as church Treasurer, Auditors, and Financial Secretaries for the following year.
3. To propose to the congregation a nominee to fill any position referenced in paragraphs 1 and 2 above if and when a position becomes vacant at a time other than the end of the calendar year.
Strategy
1. To pray as a team and individually concerning every aspect of the Nominating Team Scope of Responsibility and process. To seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in identifying His candidates for positions in the church.
2. To develop within the Nominating Team an atmosphere of encouragement and caring that fosters a sense of community and leads to genuine discipleship and the development of individual gifts, including leadership, within the microcosm of the Nominating Team community.
3. To model for other administrative and ministry teams within the church the functioning of a committee as a caring small group community which makes each team member’s involvement on the team more meaningful to him/her and his/her service more effective.
