Frequently Asked Questions....

What does it mean to be a sponsor?

Being a sponsor means that you make a commitment to financially support a student through annual or monthly donations.  You can do this individually or as a group.

You will also be encouraged to support your sponsored student through regular prayer.

How will I know how my sponsored student is doing?

As a sponsor, you will receive a personal letter/card from your sponsored child twice a year (at Christmas and Easter) together with an update report on their progress in school.  Periodic newsletters describing the school’s activities and highlights from the school year will also be provided throughout the year.

What does it cost to support a student?

For your tax-deductible contribution of $30 a month ($360 a year), you can help prepare a child living in poverty to one day be able to provide for themselves.  For less than $1.00 a day, you will give a student the best gift of all—the building blocks to a brighter future.

Your student sponsorship monthly pledge of $30 will provide a child with:

  • High-quality Christian education
  • Uniforms and School Supplies
  • Nutritious Food & Supplements
  • Annual dental/medical exams
  • Spiritual Nurture & Guidance
  • An opportunity to build self-esteem and be part of something wonderful!

How is my sponsorship money used?

Your sponsorship money is directly used to pay the expenses of providing a child with a Christian education.   Because the administrative work is done by volunteers, over 95% of the money collected goes directly to the school.

Does my money go directly to the student that I am supporting?

No, the money does not go directly to the sponsored child.  We are very sensitive to the issue of not allowing individual students to feel that they are receiving less support or attention than others.  Therefore, sponsorship monies go into a general fund which supports all of the students equally.

How can I make my payments?

Monthly or annual payments are payable by check and mailed in pre-addressed envelopes to the church’s P.O. box.  Please make checks payable to Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church and mark “Honduras Sponsor A Student” in the memo line.

However, if you have lost or misplaced your mailing envelope, you may forward your payment to the following address:

Am I able to select a specific student to sponsor?

When you sign up as a sponsor, a child will be selected for you.  The student that you are assigned is your personal link to the Hearts For Honduras School, and you become that child’s link to the greater world.  The child will feel gratified that you have chosen to take a particular interest in his/her well-being.

Can I send letters, packages or extra monetary gifts to Hearts For Honduras students?

We are very sensitive to the issue of not allowing individual students to feel that they are receiving less support or attention than others.  Therefore, while you will receive letters from and information about your sponsored student, they will not receive communications directly from you. You can, however, write letters to the "students class". If your sponsored child is in the first grade (as an example), you could write a letter to the first grade class. The first grade class will respond to your letters and thus you can build a relationship with an entire class!

Can I sponsor more than one child?

Yes, you can sponsor as many children as you wish.  Your contribution to providing high-quality education, nutrition, and spiritual nurture to needy children in La Entrada will help to change their lives.

What if I cannot afford to give $360 a year but would like to help the children in the school?

Your gift, in any amount, is most welcomed and will be used to support the school.  You may send donations to:
