Most parents cannot afford the uniforms and books their children need to attend public school. Too often, families survive day-to-day by sending their children to sell or beg on the streets.
Part of our mission is to teach parents, who are mostly uneducated, about the value of an education. With more children being educated, we hope future generations will have a better chance of breaking the vicious cycle of poverty.
Children receive an education and are counseled on the importance of school, good nutrition, healthy living and following a Christian life. They are expected to attend school faithfully each day and meet the requirements of the school. Parents are required to periodically help in the school with lessons, childcare, preparation of meals, and to encourage their children to live healthy lives, spiritually, mentally and physically.
The school is funded by gifts from Liberty Corner Church and friends. Some of the school buildings were built by volunteers who traveled to Honduras on annual mission trips. The Sponsor a Student scholarship program provides financial support to Heart For Honduras students and graduates, so they can continue on to high school or technical school.
